Coincidentally the same month they’re releasing the game also marks the 30th anniversary of the Super Mario franchise. To get the conceptual ball rolling, Nintendo will break the news at E3, the biggest gaming convention in the world. While everyone is expecting to hear about the release of Mario Maker, Nintendo will surprise the world by announcing that after 30 years with Nintendo, Mario is retiring.
While gamers all over the world are wondering if Mario’s retirement is true, Nintendo will release this print ad in gamer magazines to carry the story.
Nintendo’s website will be taken over with news that explains Mario’s retirement and celebrates his super history. Nintendo will also spread the news across their many media channels.
Nintendo will send Mario off by throwing him the biggest digital retirement celebration with the release of an exclusive DLC called "Mario Retirement Party", playing off the popular "Mario Party" series.
This DLC will include games like, "A Very Early Dinner" in which players need to eat as many sweets as they can before 5 pm.

As Nintendo is mourning, Mario will use Instagram to continue the campaign by showing the world his newest adventures as a retiree.
LinkedIn is a great way to show off a resume, which is why Mario will create his own account. This will allow fans to connect with him and marvel at Mario’s work history.
Gamers will have millions of questions in the wake of Mario’s retirement. To put their inquiries to rest, Mario will participate in a Reddit Ask Me Anything.
Like all great retirees, Mario will release his first memoir, which reveals the truth behind some of the world’s greatest games. Rather than being a book, Mario’s memoir will be printed on a NES cartridge that gamers will get to play for an interactive experience.
To wrap up the campaign, Mario fans will be asked to reach out to him via Instagram pleading for his to return by wearing a Mario mustache and including the hashtag #comebackmario.
